3 Week Sermon Series: Living a Questionable Life
Esther, who was definitely a hero to the Jewish nation, is not the actual hero of the book of Esther – God is. His name is never mentioned in this short Old Testament book, but his hand of providence is seen in every verse. It’s actually like using reverse psychology to highlight God in an even greater way.
In this 3-week series from the book of Esther, we’ll look at how Esther used the place God had positioned her for His purposes and to make Him famous. She lived a life that was questionable – a life that, then and today, fuels our curiosity and moves us to discover what moved her to risk her life for God’s people. Together, we’ll discover how we can live a life that is “questionable”, and how we can allow God to use our lives for His glory.
The three sermons are:
Week 1
Title For Us
Subject To make God the hero we need someone on our side
Scripture Esther 2:5-7
Focus We all need to allow someone to care for us, to come alongside us
Purpose. Our people would realize that we all need someone to care about us, to come alongside us. Esther was able to help the Jews because Mordecai helped her.
Esther experienced some difficult things and they may have derailed her if it wasn’t for Mordecai. We all need someone building into our lives.
Week 2
Title Positioned
Subject Allowing God To Use You Right Where You Are
Scripture Esther 4:1-16, verse 14 is highlighted
Focus God has positioned us in time and place for His Purposes
Purpose Our people would give their rights and desires up so God can use them where He has them - for His purposes
Week 3
Title Not the Hero
Subject Focus of our Life
Scripture Esther 4-6
Focus Who we are living for?
Purpose Our people would realize it’s not about us, just like the book of Esther isn’t really about Esther. It’s about God, the Creator and Savior of the world. He’s the main character of this book of the Bible, and whether we realize it or not, He’s the main character in our story, too.
